Elbit Systems announced that its BrightNite Degraded Visibility Environments (DVE) was now operational in the helicopters of a NATO country. The BrightNite system, which contains preprogrammed geographical information, combines with realtime sensors to provide pilots with clear images, even in the worst possible flying conditions. According to Elbit, feedback from pilots has been excellent. Elbit stated that the success of the BrightNite system constitutes a “breakthrough in pitch dark night flight”.
